Following a public inquiry into npower renewables' Bradwell-On-Sea Wind Farm, planning permission was granted by the Government's Planning Inspector.
However, planning permission has been quashed (June 2008) because of drafting errors in two of the planning conditions. This technicality means that the planning application for the wind farm will go back the Government Planning Inspectorate. We are expecting confirmation of the timescales for this within the next few weeks.
The proposed wind farm at Bradwell-On-Sea could be a major boost for the 2010 renewable energy targets for the East of England and comprises 10 wind turbines each with a capacity of between 1.5 and 2.5 megawatts and a maximum height of 121 metres, constructed on farm land to the south of Bradwell-On-Sea.
Once constructed, the wind farm would power on average between 8,100 and 10,600 local homes, and will make a valuable contribution to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions in the UK.
